RS National Championships at Pwllheli Sailing Club - Day 2

Conditions were close to perfect for the second day of the event, with 12 knots of regularly shifting breeze, glorious sunshine and sparkling waves. It doesn't get much better than this.
RS400:
A couple more late entries brings the total up to 118 boats in the RS400 fleet. A 2 point gap still seperates Nick Craig / Keith Bedborough and Roger Gilbert / James Stewart at the top of the scoreboard, but a discard now included hides the fact that Gilbert / Steward had the slightly better day. Craig / Bedborough opened with a win, but slipped to 7th in the second race, while Gilbert Stewart had the more consistent 4,2. Tom Hewitson and Rob Sherrington were winners in the second race but a 12th in the first keeps them in 5th overall. Craig Burlton and Andrew Bonsey have now been able to discard their 32nd in the first race, and subsequent scores of 6, 7, 5 pull them up to 6th overall at the halfway stage in the championship.
RS800:
Jason Belben / Mark Asquith won the first of the RS800's three races and followed it up with a consistent 6, 4 to climb to the top of the scoreboard overnight. Geoff Carveth / Jim Dean faltered with a 14th in the first but bounced back with a 1st and 7th thereafter. They now lay 2nd overall ahead of Nick Peters / Fiona Sayce whose consistent day pulled them up from 4th to 3rd. Unlucky team of the day were Ben Dunton / Ali Hall who were forced out of race one whilst leading, due to boom failure. They returned to the course for the last race which they won with a big margin! They'll be crying into their beer tonight.
