Sydney 40 World Cup - Day Two

The Race 1 sponsored Sydney 40 World Cup 2000 enters its last day today with 2 boats tied for the overall lead on 17 points. These are Miguel Puigserver's Cacadu representing Europe, helmed by Spaniard Pichu Torcida, and Sydney Yachts representing Australia, skippered by Roger Hickman.

Lying 3rd overall are the Japanese team sailing Tomoya Hotta's Top Secret, helmed by Australian Bruce Anson. For a time this team were leading the regatta but have suffered a disqualification for a finishing line incident at the end of race 4. They are now 5 points behind the leaders entering the last day.

Lying 4th equal overall are Nick Lamm's Dutch team sailing Exposure and Philip Crebbin's British team sailing Race 1, both on 28 points.

There are 2 races to be held on the last day making 9 in total. Conditions have been excellent every day with bright sunshine and sea breezes from 8 to 20 knots. There were 3 races per day on the first two days, sponsored by Bar Capricho and Douglas Gill respectively. Bar Capricho in
Porto Portals near Calanova hosted an excellent party for the teams at the end of the first day.

On the third day there was a single longer race, sponsored by Spinlock. The final two races are sponsored by Frederiksen and Hyde Sails.
