Author: Sue Warden OwenTHE TIMES CLIPPER 2000
OFFICIAL CHARITY TO HOLD ANNUAL BOXING DINNER & AUCTION

This year, The Philip Green Memorial Trust's glamorous Annual Boxing Dinner
and Auction will take place on Thursday 23rd November 2000 at The Hilton
London Metropole Hotel. The prestigious event is already over subscribed
with over 1,100 of London's finest businessmen eagerly wishing to join the
array of professional boxers, sporting, and television celebrities who will
help raise the profile and stakes of this fabulous evening and the popular
charity.

The Philip Green Memorial Trust is the official charity of The Times Clipper
2000 Round The World Yacht Race. The eight-strong fleet of identical 60ft
yachts set sail from Portsmouth on Sunday 15th October and is currently
racing from the Algarve to Cuba on leg 1 of this challenging eleven-month
circumnavigation. Not only will the 250 crewmembers experience the
adventure of a lifetime, but many will also be raising money for The Philip
Green Memorial Trust by being sponsored for every mile of their journey.
The funds raised during The Times Clipper 2000 and the proceeds from this
year's Boxing Dinner and Auction will hopefully raise the Ј600,000 needed to
complete and sustain Richard House, London's first Children's Hospice.

The Boxing Night is expected to attract the biggest turnout ever and will
include a British Masters fight in The Heavyweight Division and a Charity
Auction by Nicholas Bonham. Clipper Ventures Plc, the AIM listed branded
sailing event company and organisers of The Times Clipper 2000 Round The
World Yacht Race, have donated a Clipper Gemini RIB (rigid inflatable boat)
to be auctioned at the Philip Green Memorial Trust Annual Boxing Dinner.
The 4.7m Clipper Gemini Waverider 470 RIB has a Mariner 40hp 2 stroke
engine, donated by E P Barrus Limited of Bicester, Oxon, and will be
supplied on a fully galvanised multiroller trailer with sealed for life
bearings, provided by RM Trailers Ltd of Alresford, Hampshire.

In addition, the impressive list of items to be auctioned includes two pairs
of signed Lennox Lewis boxing gloves, a Manchester United football shirt
signed by the whole team and a host of holiday prizes in glamorous locations
such as Orlando, Colombo (Sri Lanka), Eilat, Switzerland and Dubai - whilst
the Boxing Night 2000 raffle prizes will include a Mercedes Smart Car as 1st
prize.

Clipper Ventures Plc has always maintained a strong association with the
Philip Green Memorial Trust. Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, record-breaking
yachtsman and chairman of Clipper Ventures Plc is a Patron of the Trust.
John Perrin, one of the founder members of the Trust's committee, took part
in Clipper '96, Clipper's first round the world yacht race. William Ward,
CEO of Clipper Ventures Plc, brought the two together and is also a
much-valued member of the Trust's committee.
